What is your professional networking strategy?
Two quarters ago I had been introduced to LinkedIn by Professor Foster. At the time I had done just what the assignment had asked and nothing more. Recently, however, I have realized that I won't be here at Olympic College forever and that I should make use of the fleeting connections I have before it is too late. I had begun to reach out to people on LinkedIn and getting them into my network. Growing my presence on LinkedIn may be a powerful tool in the future, and there has never been a better opportunity for growing my network presented to me than the network I have at OC.
Having been shown LinkedIn directly by a CIS/IS instructor, I am confident that it is a tool utilized in the IT industry. I have even gone further to find that users across Reddit and Quora have given testimonials to the fact that LinkedIn is almost an industry standard. Or rather, a powerful tool to put yourself out there.
Before I am done here at OC I hope to reach 100 people in my network. I know this is possible with just the individuals I've met here. But, growing my presence, showing my worth, and displaying it for the world seems to be a powerful angle to draw attention for potential employers.
