Hours Worked: 19

Total Hours: 19

Due to my delayed start, owed to the fact that I was on vacation for the first week of this quarter, this week I worked with my supervisor Andrea Mccracken to decide on what my goals are for this class. We settled on 4 goals, and I shared these with my faculty advisor Richard Becker.

Issues: I have worked as a student technician at Olympic College for 2 years now. In that time, I have learned nearly every skill expected of me and have been able to consistently apply them. But why is this an issue? It is hard to decide on what my goals are for improvement if there aren't any role-based responsibilities left for me to accomplish. I had to work with my supervisor to think outside the box and to see how I can apply my skills from outside of work to improve my workplace. Ultimately, I decided on going above and beyond and attempting to use my programming skills to create applications that will help automate menial tasks at the Help Desk.

Progress Next Week: I aim to meet with the Director of IT at Olympic College, Pamela, to figure out how I can best adjust my working schedule to optimize for the fact that I hope to program at work. After this meeting, I hope that I can begin programming in Python and VBA to hone my skills and to eventually finish the two applications I set out to complete. I do not expect to complete either of these applications next week. These applications are, for reference, to create a scheduling app and an automated password-reset for Class Accounts. Both of these tasks are time consuming for our Help Desk staff.
