Hours this week: 7
Total hours: 38
As the quarter nears an end I am gearing myself up for taking my Security+ Exam. I did some research and found that the testing center at Olympic College is able to proctor third-party exams with a fee of $50. The process requires me to first pay for the Security+ Exam, set a time with CompTIA, and set the exam to be proctored at the testing center.
This week consisted mostly of studying off of Professor Messer's practice exams. While I only received 3 practice tests, I was able to do each of them several times until I was comfortable will the material on each.
I had identified areas of study that I focused in on this week: port numbers, networking basics (TCP/UDP), and all the acronyms. I studied acronyms specifically via flash cards, though there are still many I need to study.
Next week I will reach out to CompTIA to learn more about testing here at Olympic College. However, due to funding issues, I do not believe I will be able to complete the exam before the end of the quarter.
I will submit a final blog post after the quarter ends to share my test results.
